Container Nursery Assistant Propagator Job at Greenleaf Nursery Company
- Manage the liner inventory of the propagation area.
- Input daily sticking numbers into excel worksheets.
- Update inventory as liners get planted in the field.
- Create inventory maps of greenhouse bays and Quonsets with precise locations of each plant variety.
- Get estimates of liner availability as cuttings come off mist and update throughout the year.
- Identify variety mixes and sort out before planting.
- Conduct regular crop evaluations within the propagation area.
- Identify any insect and disease issues and report them to the Pest Supervisor.
- Record keeping on good and poor rooting percentages and investigate causes.
- Create SOP’s on new plant cultivars and update current SOP’s based on current notes and investigative findings.
- Inform Propagator of any liner losses to replenish in a timely matter.
- Oversee any hormone applications required for cuttings.
- Make sure correct hormone and concentration is used for each variety.
- Ensure hormones are diluted and applied correctly and safely.
- Work with supervisory staff in propagation and maintain a team environment.
- Stay current on propagation techniques and processes within the industry.
- Other duties as assigned
