Construction Records Auditor II:
Audits and conducts final review of construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Construction Records Auditor III:
Audits and conducts final review of construction project records for [$50 million or more of construction contract work]; verifies
contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently
on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Construction Records Auditor II, III:
- Assists area engineers by providing direction and technical expertise in resolving contract administration problems.
- Drives a vehicle and represents the district and Construction Division at meetings regarding contract administration.
- Prepares related correspondence and reports.
- Trains less experienced recordkeepers and records auditors.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Additional essential duties for Construction Records Auditor III:
- Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures.
- Monitors material testing requirements, results and reports for compliance with specifications and standards.
- Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders.
- Tracks material transfers within the district and/or between districts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Construction Records Auditor II, III:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Construction Records Auditor II:
Experience: 7 years construction record keeping, auditing. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Construction Records Auditor III:
Experience: 8 years construction record keeping, auditing. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).

Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Competencies:
Construction Records Auditor II, III:
- Auditing and investigative methods, practices and procedures
- Reviewing plans for accuracy and ensuring compliance with requirements
- Writing, reviewing and revising documents to include engineering notes, specifications, standards and procedures
- Monitoring the status and progress of projects
- Using computers and applicable programs, applications, and systems
Additional competencies for Construction Records Auditor III:
- Using standard office equipment
- Maintaining a safe working relationship
- Establishing plans and setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results; anticipating and adjusting for problems/roadblocks
- Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts or data; drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions
- Research and analysis methodologies
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
- Standing-prolonged periods of time
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
