Community Engagement Specialist, US Comirnaty Job at Pfizer
ROLE SUMMARY
Pfizer and BioNTech's breakthrough COVID-19 vaccine has launched around the world. Full FDA approval/BLA for the 16+ age group US occurred in Fall 2021 with additional supplemental BLAs to follow for other formulations and age groups through late 2021 and into 2022. Post-BLA, we will use the brand name, COMIRNATY®.
Although our understanding of the disease epidemiology, virus mutations and duration of protection of vaccines continue to evolve; in the post-pandemic period, it's likely that COVID-19 vaccinations may be an annual vaccination, potentially like flu. In the post-pandemic market dynamic, vaccine uptake will be dependent on numerous commercial brand interdependencies and driving market and patient-centric opportunities for our vaccine.

The Vaccine Adoption & Equity (VA&E) Specialist will contribute to this effort by collaborating with non-traditional stakeholders and local community partners in target geographies supported by fit-for-purpose educational materials.
It’s a fast-paced, collaborative environment that requires an organized colleague with community partnership experience who is comfortable with ambiguity and has the ability to navigate the organization to get things done.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish key objectives, goals, and reporting metrics for target geography in tandem with Equity Director’s overarching goals
- Continuously assess local market challenges to vaccination access via community feedback, secondary data, and any other relevant sources
- Create opportunities for collaboration and two-way engagement with community organizations (e.g., townhalls, surveys, events, interviews, etc.), to support the goal of addressing vaccine equity challenges
- Collaborate with Equity Marketers to select appropriately tailored materials and communication mediums for consumers
- Distribute fit-for-purpose educational materials to non-traditional stakeholders
- Collaborate with Equity Director to develop practical strategies to solve access barriers through local partnerships
- Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams (via Equity Director) to understand existing health equity initiatives/partnerships and available tools deployed for geography selection
- Collaborate with other Customer Facing Colleagues to identify areas of unmet need within the community and develop relationships with local partners
- Make connections with relevant external partners (e.g., local community organizations and retail pharmacies and/ or health systems) to facilitate progress on equity programs
- Share lessons learned from community engagement with VA&E team and internal health equity groups (e.g., Equity COE)
- Generate reports documenting key performance metrics in collaboration with BAI
- Share progress on vaccine adoption and equity initiatives with Equity Director
Qualifications:
Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; Master's Degree in public health, health administration or public/business administration preferred
- 5+ years relevant work experience in public health, public policy, health equity, pharma or other related fields
- Prior development and implementation of strategic initiatives focused on health/social inequities
- Established ties to local community and local initiatives focused on health equity, strongly preferred
- The ability to develop strong professional relationships in-person and virtually in a dynamic and challenging environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with people of different races, ethnicities, sexual/gender identities, ages, socio-economic status, and abilities
Skills
- Excellent communication skills—oral, written, and listening
- Ability to build trust and credibility with a diverse set of stakeholders internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to adopt and utilize new digital technology and other resources (e.g., iPAD, Zoom, WebEx)
- Additional language proficiency (as required in target geographies)
- Ability to travel (regionally) for community engagement
- Bilingual preferred

For roles based in New York City: The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,200.00 to $155,400.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
