Communicable Disease Specialist Job at Georgia Department of Public Health

SALARY INFORMATION: $40,004.00 Annual/Pay Grade I
Under general supervision, gathers, analyzes and monitors data regarding communicable diseases within a health district. Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of such diseases. Performs reporting and surveillance activities as well as conduct data collection and analysis. Prepares documentation of all communicable disease case investigations occurring within the district.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND six months of related experience
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience in a related area
OR
Four years of experience in a medical related field
OR
licensure as a registered nurse AND One year of nursing experience
OR
One year of experience at the lower level Communicable Disease Spec 1 (HCP080) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicant must possess a strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS and STD’s. Experience in conducting outreach and disease intervention. Completions of ISTDI and or ASTDI and Pass Port. Case Management skills and Phlebotomy are a plus. Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.
