TITLE: LOAN OFFICER

REPORTS TO: PRESIDENT/CEO

SUPERVISES: LOAN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring, and closing of loans, as well as maintaining and servicing existing portfolio. Represents the bank in local community through active participation in community affairs and participates in marketing all of the bank’s products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maximize bank profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations, fee income, and selling of bank products and services
  • Represents the institution to the public; market the institution’s loan products
  • Screens requests from potential applicants and explain lending parameters.
  • Reviews loan applications from prospective borrowers based upon approved underwriting policies.
  • Interviews loan applicants to obtain information concerning their businesses, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan is an acceptable risk
  • Follows up with applicants and secures the necessary information to underwrite the loan, conduct site visits if needed. Provide assistance to help potential borrowers successfully qualify for financing.
  • Negotiates loan structure; negotiates work-out or default situations. Negotiate terms, structure loan financing based on risk considerations and present credits for approval to appropriate levels of authority with the bank as required by policy
  • Presents loan requests to loan review committee.
  • Works cooperatively with and constructively with a wide variety of people, cross-functional teams, community-based organizations, banks and lawyers.
  • Coordinate timing of loan funding with borrower, the finance officer to ensure funds are available for closing.
  • Daily review, approval, and disposition of overdraft list
  • Follow current loans and lines of credit to ensure conformity with terms and to gain knowledge of developing customer trends
  • Actively participates in local business and community activities and maintains close contact with local builders, real estate brokers and agents, customers and prospects.
  • Develop knowledge of and ensure compliance of all Fair Lending Rules and Regulations.
  • Develop knowledge of and ensure compliance thru responsibilities as relating to various federal regulations including Bank Secrecy/Anti-Money Laundering Act, Americans with Disabilities Act,

Reg E, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Biley Act.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of bank regulations, and bank products
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or economics
  • Good sales, organizational, managerial and interpersonal skills.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
