A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CNC MACHINIST

In this manufacturing role, you have full command of various CNC machining processes including milling and turning. Put simply, you operate the machines that produce our products. You create process instructions that identify operations, tool sequences, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for parts requiring any type of machining operation. We train you in advanced metal cutting operations to ensure your success in this role.

Throughout the manufacturing process, you set up the machines and select the proper tools. You are able to program live tooling on turning centers, properly use a Renishaw probe, and program right angle head on boring mills. With attention to detail, you perform inspections of your own work products to ensure the highest quality. You are meticulous about correctly filling out any NCRs (non-conforming parts reports). Safety is always your top priority, and you continually follow established safety procedures. As a dedicated employee, you work hard to achieve the established quality and productivity levels we have set. You take great pride in manufacturing quality products that can change people's lives!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CNC MACHINIST

• High school diploma or equivalent (unless applying for the high school co-op program)
• Post-secondary training is a plus, but not required
• Proficiency in Gibbs Cam software, advanced CNC programming, and Fanuc and Siemens controls
• Ability to read blueprints in both English and metric using geometric tolerancing symbology
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Solid foundation in mathematics

Three or more years of experience on large-scale mills or lathes is preferred but not required. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Is your attention to detail exceptional? Can you think quickly on your feet and handle problems as they come? If yes, you might just be perfect for this position!

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Our co-op program offers high school students the opportunity to get a foot in the door and gain hands-on experience and training, working toward a life-long career! If you are not enrolled in a school-sanctioned co-op program, you must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for this position.

Our company-paid apprenticeship program offers employees the opportunity to obtain a four-year journeyman certificate. This federally licensed program partners with Grand Rapids Community College.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A CNC MACHINIST

This full-time position offers two different shifts. The day shift typically begins at 6:00am, and the 2nd shift begins at 5pm, but we offer scheduling flexibility! Our co-op students will be scheduled around school and extracurricular obligations.
