As a Cloud Application/Solutions Architect at Boston Mutual, you enjoy working in a highly collaborative team-based environment, conceptualizing, developing, communicating and proposing solutions that will drive our growth and lead directly to top and bottom line results. You will work with the CIO and Director of the department to develop a long-term strategy while engaging in a tactical capacity to help solve critical needs and mission challenges. You will be responsible for providing a recommendation for the overall cloud solution architecture and development practices and engaging business peers and subject matter experts, when required. The Cloud Application Architect must remain informed about industry trends, fin-tech products and innovations that will deliver process improvement and efficiencies, candidate areas for automation, and other innovative approaches to meet current and evolving business needs.

The Cloud Application/Solutions Architect is expected to:

• Analyze the current state technology environment and identify deficiencies, define the principles, guidelines, standards and solutions patterns in collaboration with other IT leadership and architecture roles, and design and direct architectural governance activities.
• Collaboratively develop and recommend a solutions architecture and integration approach across a suite of specific applications and technologies based on enterprise strategy, business capabilities, and business requirements.
• Participate in cross-functional teams as well as functional and project team efforts to evaluate technology solutions to meet the needs of the business and fit within the technology architecture vision of the organization, including vendor assessment, technology platform selection and retirement, prioritization, and integration.
• Drive cloud adoption across the enterprise, including continuously building and enhancing foundational cloud capabilities, process simplification and automation, and delivering end-to-end cloud deployment processes.
• Partner with IT leadership, business leadership and vendors as an advisor to develop and align technical road maps with organizational strategy, and objectives.
• Develop design diagrams and corresponding documentation to set enterprise best practices for cloud adoption.
• Lead the design and implementation of new cloud capabilities by partnering with our application teams.
• Support and mentor team members on cloud application best practices.
• Serve as a strategist and continuously refine our deployment practices for improved reliability, repeatability, and security.
• Ensure cloud optimization is being followed with a focus on balancing costs with business priorities.
• Assist in developing and executing application hosting and migration strategies for systems both on-premise and in the cloud including the development of solution prototypes to prove out value and reduce risk.
• Be a trusted advisor to the company, collaborating closely with both the business and technology teams to ensure alignment in implementation with the intended solution design as well as desired business outcomes.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Experience:

• 8+ years software architecture and development experience designing and deploying scalable, secure on-premise and cloud-based solutions in Microsoft Azure.
• 3+ years experience implementing and mentoring teams in agile software development practices.
• Led large-scale software vendor selection and system integration efforts.
• Worked with both technical and business stakeholders to define requirements, creating detailed documentation and crafting estimates and roadmaps for implementation.
• End-to-end solution and implementation definition and documentation.
• Experience creating deployment strategies with accurate time estimates and risk assessments.
• Professionally solved challenges for full-stack application design, development, and implementation with 8+ years experience with object oriented system design using Microsoft .NET/C#.
• Software development experience and familiarity with multiple programming languages such as: C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, MSSQL, Python, etc.
• Experience building solutions using a micro-services approach.
• Hands-on experience of CI/CD implementation using cloud native services and DevOps tools.
• Strong experience crafting solutions leveraging serverless functions & container services.
• Familiarity with (IaC) concepts.
• Familiarity with integrating data solutions in Microsoft Azure.

Knowledge Requirements & Capabilities:

• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure components (network, compute, storage, load balancers) and how applications should best leverage each.
• Experience developing systems to support data analytics and business intelligence
• Cloud migration planning and execution
• Cloud-native development and security best practices
• Experience implementing DevOps processes and tools such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Test Automation, Infrastructure-As-Code, Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting
• Demonstrated ability in project solution estimation and team structure recommendation.
• Demonstrates a solid understanding of delivery methodology and has led teams in the implementation of solutions according to plan.
• Knowledge of concepts like availability, back up, disaster recovery, etc. in a Cloud environment as it relates to the applications supported.
• Experience working with performance monitoring tools.

We returned to the office in May 2022, employees are required to be in office on Mondays and Thursdays at this time. There may be times in which employees are requested to come on site more days during the week based on business need.
