Clinical Laboratory Technologist Job at A-TEK, Inc.
Help us fight Covid! A-TEK Inc. is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in Decatur, GA. A-TEK Inc, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Health, is looking for experienced Microbiological Scientists to help analyze COVID samples at the Decatur, GA laboratory facility. This position will be responsible for performing PCR testing under general supervision in a high-complexity laboratory. Full and Part-Time positions available for these second shift opportunities (4-12:30 AM). The roles are ideal for a scientists seeking to supplement their income.
Responsibilities:
- Handle, receive, and process patient specimens;
- Adhere to and follow laboratory established procedures for processing, analyzing and reporting patient samples;
- Familiarity with CLIA guidelines;
- Decontaminate workspaces, including biological safety cabinets and other items associated with processing and analysis activities;
- Prepare reagents;
- Perform nucleic acid extraction work;
- Use real-time PCR techniques to identify pathogens;
- Analyze and interpret results;
- Perform data entry utilizing computerized or computer-linked systems;
- Adhere to QA/QC requirements in accordance with the laboratory quality management systems, as specified by state and federal licensure laws;
- Maintain documentation of records demonstrating compliance with applicable training/retraining, competencies, and document reviews;
- Maintain equipment and instruments and the appropriate documentation
- Properly dispose of biohazardous waste;
- Restock and maintain inventory of necessary supplies;
Qualitifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Technology, Microbiology or a related science area from an accredited college or university
- One year of experience in real-time PCR and aseptic techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP)
