Job Purpose and Impact
The Chemist will ensure that products meet or exceed customer requirements for quality and food safety and develop an in depth understanding of specific systems. In this role, you will ensure customer satisfaction, minimization or process variation, process recovery realization, waste reduction, cost minimization and ability to act as a specialist backup. The Chemist will also have responsibility around Instrumentation, including: testing, calibrating, installing, repair and inspect food safety and quality monitoring devices for plant production and process equipment. In this role, you will analyze malfunctions of instruments and control systems, determine necessary steps for repair and work with scientific and analytic food safety and quality computer software, and data management systems. Key Accountabilities
Assist with customer audits, initiatives and follow ups.
Approve final production and assurance of compliance to customer specifications.
Maintain and coordinate the chemist technician partnership and training systems.
Provide training, coaching and mentoring to new team members.
Provide process improvement support, specialized testing, training, audit systems, analyze data, identify trends, troubleshoot, corrective action and communication regarding processing data and final product.
Assess quality parameters and systems including cross checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, food safety, training, auditing and oversight of analytical testing performed in control rooms.
Perform general maintenance on equipment and develop new and improved food safety and quality measuring and recording equipment.
Perform calibrations on various devices, documenting equipment inspection, testing and repair activities.
Investigate and communicate quality related issues including instrument discrepancies, exception reporting and other noncompliance issues.
Provide troubleshooting, diagnostic and risk assessments of food safety and quality performance instruments and control systems.
PO’s and ordering systems.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of two years of related work experience
Ability to travel to both Bovina, TX and Dalhart, TX Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to anticipate, recognize, solve process and laboratory problems.
Ability to handle multiple priorities with large projects.
Intermediate computer skills
Ability to work expertly and effectively as an individual and in a team environment.
Cargill food safety quality and regulatory experience Position Information
Travel to both Bovina, TX and Dalhart, TX is required.
Role is Monday-Friday daytime hours, with on-call, nights, weekends, holidays as required.
