The Center for Leadership & Innovation (CLI) designs programs that serve its mission to activate curiosity and give learners the space to try, fail and succeed by using problem-solving frameworks to solve real-world issues. We are looking for a national board-certified teacher who has actively taught science and has experience with gifted education. The newly opened CLI facility hosts unique spaces for collaborating, making, and creating; the CLI coordinator helps learners throughout their journey to transform their ideas and thoughts into reality. A typical week might include:

• Co-designing and co-teaching lessons with PS 8th Grade teachers, which take place in the CLI.
• Conducting a professional development course for STS and/or external teachers.
• Honing personal maker skills, including research, practice, and exploration of ways to use the maker tools in the lab.

Job Overview:

The Center for Leadership & Innovation Lab Coordinator is responsible for researching, co-designing, and delivering student experiences through a 21 Century Learning Design (21CLD) lens which meets our mission to activate curiosity and give learners the space to try, fail, and succeed. The work is highly collaborative with other CLI Coordinators and teachers. In addition, the position requires participation as a leader in designing and delivering professional development training for both internal and external educators. Each CLI Coordinator has a specialty (education technology, humanities, etc.). This position specializes in science and engineering.

General Responsibilities:

The CLI Coordinator is a combination of teacher, curriculum designer, coach, researcher, trainer, and thought leader. Working with students in the CLI is scheduled based on project requests from teachers, and a Coordinator must have strong organizational and time management skills to make collaborations successful. The CLI Coordinator is both assigned engagements and seeks out opportunities to work with all students and teachers. A CLI Coordinator must see themselves in a start-up culture; learn as you go, be fast paced, wear many different hats, be willing to help outside of your specific job and expertise, and constantly reflect on how to do better.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelors Degree required; Masters preferred
• Knowledge of current trends in social innovation, making/creating, and problem-solving frameworks
• National Board Certification preferred
• Experience teaching science preferred
• Experience in gifted education preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Capacity to learn a variety of maker tools, including, but not limited to laser cutter, 3D printer, sewing machine, and vinyl cutter
• Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
• Flexibility to work with teachers and administrators in an ever-changing environment.
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows environment using Microsoft Office, master common automated systems for record keeping, and learn new technology
