Case Manager-Social Services Job at The Salvation Army Intermountain Div
Essential Functions:
- Attend monthly COPE meetings
- Set COPE appointments
- Follow utility and The Salvation Army guidelines to administrate and maximize funding
- Work with Grant Administrator to apply for the COPE grant and search for other utility grants that might complement COPE funding
Fema:
- Attend all FEMA meetings with El Paso County Coordinators
- Help apply for FEMA grants with the Grant Administrator
- Work with Case Managers at the RJ Montgomery Center, Family Supportive Housing, and other agencies to strategically place homeless people into permanent housing
- Administrate FEMA funding in a way to maximize the limited assistance in the community
- Maintain records and compile all reports as required for FEMA funding and any potential audits
CSFP:
- Administrate the USDA Food Program to Seniors
- Add and remove clients from the CSFP program
- Train and work with Volunteers to maintain a high level of service for our senior clients
- Maintain database records and compile all reports as required by Care and Share for monthly counts and recertification
Back-To-School:
- Work with multiple departments to qualify families for Back-To-School assistance
- Work with Community Relations Director and El Paso County Coordinators to raise funding for programs
- Coordinator with JC Penny, Colorado Springs Utilities, Chapel Hills Mall, D-11, Community Relations Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and other departments to set up and carry out Back-To-School assistance program
Christmas Assistance:
- Coordinate with all departments, other agencies, volunteers, donors, and corporations on Angel Tree, Adopt a Family, Toy, and Joy seasonal assistance programs
- Set up Seasonal Assistance program and data enter all relevant program
- Runs stats for all giving programs
Miscellaneous Assistance:
- Manage miscellaneous assistance with minimal supervision- including shoe giveaways, store vouchers, and bus passes
- Supervise volunteers assigned to the Social Service Department
- Do a need assessment on each client
- Complete all paperwork necessary to provide needed services
- Provide information and or referrals to other agencies
- Maintain records and documents for each client served according to TSA's reporting procedures (STATS, Bridges and Gift and Kind)
- Develop and maintain community relationships with other agencies
- Attend Community meetings, forums, etc. as they pertain to the position, and as requested by the supervisor
- Monitor Food Pantry needs, and order food as needed within the budget
- Bag, stock, and distribute food bags as needed
- Provide utility assistance according to policy and available funds
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Work independently with little or no supervision
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task
- Effectively handle stressful situations
- Fluent in the English language both verbal and written
- Must maintain a valid CO driver's license and successfully complete TSA Decision Driving
- Demonstrate crisis intervention and non-violent mediation skills
- knowledge of TSA practices and organization desirable
- Previous experience working with residents in a rehabilitation program and experience working in a team setting is beneficial but not mandatory
Software- Related Skills
- Microsoft Word and Access Required
- Lotus Notes, Working knowledge of integrated database applications, and ability to use new software programs with basic training
- TSA Programs-Bridges, Pathway to Hope Case Management
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Degree and/or experience in the Social Service field
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, pull and reach overhead
- Ability to operate a telephone
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to understand written information

Experience
Required
- 4-months to 1-year experience in the Social Services field
Education
Required- High School or Equivalent or better
