About the Job
Family Centered Services of Alaska is searching for a Case Manager to work with students in our Youth Education Support Services (YESS) program. The YESS program provides integrated day treatment (behavioral health) and education services to students referred by the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Students receive the benefits of low child to staff ratios that allows for behavior alternation to prepare students to return to a public-school setting.
The Case Manager is responsible for providing individualized and small group instruction in basic skill content, remedial, and GED curriculum, physical education, and/or arts and crafts activities in both general education and special education classrooms (including providing support for special education students in general education classes). Provides input to the Special Education teachers as to the student’s progress on Individual Education Plans (IEP) and instructional goals, becomes familiar with each student’s individualized plan; motivate, encourage, and assist students to make progress towards identified goals, observes student behavior and implements behavior modification plans as written activities. The incumbent will also assist staff to identify and assist in remediation of “gaps” in the plan of care for each youth, create appropriate services when critical need cannot be met more traditionally, coordinate any alternate treatment placement arrangements for the client, as needed, and, when appropriate, contact parents/guardians regularly to discuss major issues/progress.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree, with Bachelor’s degree preferred, in psychology, social work, guidance and counseling, sociology, or other human service field. Equivalent work experience may be substituted.
- Experience: Must be competent in the use of computer word processing software (Microsoft Office suite – especially Word and Excel); ability to navigate computerized records management systems (i.e., PowerSchool, GoalView, and CT1). At least one year’s secretarial experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment, as well as general knowledge of English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic math are required.
- Good oral and written communication skills are required.
- Must have ability to interact with others in a courteous and tactful manner, to meet deadlines, to flexibly prioritize work as needed, and to maintain confidentiality of records and oral information.
- Physical ability to employ Verbal and Physical aggression control techniques after being certified. (Ability to physically restrain adolescent clients). This may require ability to bend knees, extend arms and shoulders and other physical movements necessary to safely restrain a client.
- Knowledge of Alaska's child care regulations.
- Current Alaska driver's license, good driving record, vehicle insurance (if applicable)
- Freedom from criminal convictions that may, in the judgment of FCSA management, adversely affect the employee's ability to work safely with children, contingent on a fingerprint and/or records check.
This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.
All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.

Pay: $18.24 - $22.00 per hour
