Preferred Skills

  • Patience and understanding with young adults and children who are living with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Experience in building independent living skills such as hygiene, safety, social skills, expressive and receptive communication, meal prep, etc.
  • Knowledge of home care services
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication
  • Experience supporting high-risk individuals with behavioral support plans
  • OIS Training and Certified (pays at a higher rate)

Direct Support Professional Qualifications:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Personal Support: 1 year (Required)
  • High school or equivalent
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • English, Reading, Writing, and Spoken (Required)
  • Be able to pass a background check
  • Effective communication with families, medical providers, and other support personnel.
  • Able to make calm decisions and provide support in emergency situations.
  • Be certified in CPR and First Aid by a recognized training agency within 90 calendar days of employment.
  • If transporting individuals, have a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance in compliance with the laws of the Department of Motor Vehicles.
