The Capital Accountant will serve in Soli’s Finance and Accounting Organization and assist in monitoring capital spending and accounting for a capital asset base of approximately $100 million and annual spending projected to be between $25 and $75 million. This position regularly collaborates cross-functionally with Facilities Development, Operations, and R&D.

Responsibilities
Here’s more of what you’ll get to do:

  • Assist with the capital approval and consolidated accounting processes, including the accurate and timely reporting of monthly results;
  • Establish, maintain and enforce internal controls.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, operations finance, accounting, and the Director of Facilities Management and the VP’s of Operations to make decisions on the appropriate classification of expenditures as either capital or expense;
  • Help establish and/or enhance processes within the capital cycle and monthly reporting of PP&E and leases;
  • Share in the ownership of lease accounting and reporting responsibilities post adoption of the new lease accounting standard, which will include analyzing lease contracts and preparing and/or reviewing information within Lease Querry;
  • Lead the accounting review for our asset retirement obligations (AROs) which includes overseeing accountants supporting this effort and working closely with our manufacturing, legal, environmental and technical service teams to ensure that all AROs are properly identified and accounted for.
  • Investigate forecast vs. actual spending variances and project budget over-runs;
  • Prepare Monthly Project reports including ITC projections and reporting on key project plan metrics
  • Provides overall support by investigating accounting questions, issues, and judgments and by partnering with team members from other business units to assist with accounting questions;
  • Review and analyze expense accounts associated with capital improvements;
  • Review progress invoices vs contract terms.
  • Assist with the aggregation of audit support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in areas such as public accounting, corporate accounting, management accounting, and/or internal audit (Project accounting experience preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • CPA Preferred
  • Strong knowledge and ability to learn and apply technical accounting concepts in accordance with US GAAP
  • High level of integrity; strong ethics and values
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Experience in with Project Accounting systems such as ASITE, Sage Contractor, MS Dynamics project management.
