About UFW Foundation: For 16 years, the UFW Foundation has mobilized farm workers and their organizations across the country to advocate for more equitable policies, such as immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards, hazard pay and other worker protections. We engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while also providing critical services. In fact, the UFW Foundation is the largest federally accredited immigration legal service provider in the state of California. The organization has staff in California, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, and New Mexico.
SUMMARY:
The UFW Foundation is seeking an unknown number Call Center Service Providers. Call Center Service Providers will be based out of our Bakersfield or Fresno regions. The Call Center Service Provider will provide direct assistance to farm workers in determining their eligibility for relief assistance. Call Center Service Providers report to Call Center Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: (This is not an exhaustive list)

  • Utilizes computer hardware and software to process documents.
  • Answer and screen inquiry calls and emails from applicants.
  • Assess applicant eligibility via screening process.
  • Assist applicants in filling out online form(s).
  • Collect all necessary data and documentation in compliance with program.
  • Translates documents from Spanish to English and vice versa.
  • Communicate with applicants telephonically, online (e.g. video conferencing), or in-person with proper physical distancing to ensure the health and safety of staff and applicants.
  • Enroll eligible applicants through online portal.
  • Refer ineligible applicants to other resources.
  • Respect dignity and confidentiality of all applicants.
  • Review and validate all necessary documentation.
  • Meets regularly with supervisor and attends all staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Other tasks as needed.

SUPERVISING RESPONSIBILITIES:
May involve the supervision and coordination of staff depending on the needs of the program.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to remain calm and patient with frustrated or distraught callers;
  • Ability to work both independently and under supervision;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
  • Bilingual, Spanish language;
  • Must have reliable internet connection, for remote work.
  • Must have designated private work space area, for remote work.
  • Dedication to mission and a genuine interest in immigrant and farm worker rights;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including good communication skills, listening skills and attitude;
  • Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of MS Word, Access and Excel or equivalent applications;
  • Problem solving/analysis and results driven;

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from applicants, colleagues, supervisors, and the general public. Must be biliterate English/Spanish. Mixteco a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical operations to problems requiring the use of basic statistics and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience working with underserved communities. Familiarity with governmental agencies and disaster relief.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – The UFW Foundation requires staff, volunteers, and independent contractors to be immunized against COVID-19 or declare a medical or religious exemption. First booster shots are also required. Any candidates advanced in a currently open search process should be prepared to comply with this requirement as a condition of employment upon hire.
