Business Office Phone Clerk Job at Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists
Summary: The primary responsibility of the Business Office Phone Clerk is to answer and return phone calls in a professional manner, while providing excellent customer service in handling caller needs. An ideal candidate enjoys communicating with callers, is detailed orientated, dependable and is willing to grow in experience within the business office. This position will support the functions of the business office as directed by the Revenue Cycle Manager. The Business Office Phone Clerk performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concepts and reflects the Orthopedic + Fracture Specialist mission and philosophy.
Key Relationships:
Involves: Patients, business office staff, clinic staff, and insurance companies.
Education, Training, and Experience: Great opportunity to learn healthcare billing. Willing to train motivated candidates who enjoy working with our patients to understand their healthcare costs.
· Previous experience handling high call volumes (Preferred but not required)
· 1- year previous medical office experience preferred (willing to train)
· Knowledge of insurance claims processes preferred (willing to train)
· Knowledge of HIPAA and other laws pertaining to patient confidentiality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to prioritize and organize daily tasks.
· Understanding of medical billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable
· Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
· Ability to meet document patient calls in an efficient manner.
· Ability to follow instructions and written guidelines.
· Ability to operate computer systems proficiently

Principle Duties and Functions:
· Answer phone calls professionally and promptly, return voicemails in a timely manner.
· Escalate calls to the appropriate staff member, as necessary.
· Print and mail paper insurance claims.
· Take patient payments, as necessary.
· Consult with appropriate department staff to answer patient and payer questions as needed.
· As a member of the O+F team, you may be asked to assist whenever and wherever there is a need.
