POSITION SUMMARY:

Create and build client relationships to help obtain new maintenance leads. Assist in developing and facilitating the maintenance business process for new clients including pricing development, proposal writing, and attending client meetings. In addition, this position will work with design/build team to propose maintenance during the design phase and ensure that the process is well managed throughout the sale of the construction project. This position will also be responsible for vetting and selling new leads that fall within territory and will also try to “winback” previous cancellations of former clients. Any of the sales mentioned above will be handed off immediately after the sale to the appropriate client representative to then manage moving forward, however the business development manager will still remain involved to ensure quality of work is upheld and that client is satisfied with the value of the work performed. Lastly, will be asked to take leadership roles within state and national landscape organizations to build relationships for recruiting efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Prospect for new business to increase the sales volume of maintenance clients, including following up on prospective client calls.
  • Manage all Maintenance department leads (for territory ) and report weekly regarding status.
  • Work with marketing department to maintain and develop strategies relating to the prospecting of new business.
  • Initiate and attend new client presentations. Once a new client is sold, a hand off process needs to be established to properly turn over the new account to a Client Representative.
  • Gather pertinent information about potential client during initial meetings
  • Communicate back to internal groups the outcome of the negotiations/proposals focusing on conveying the expectations set forth for each group i.e. clear details, critical timeframes, and expectations.
  • Assist in training and mentoring team members by sharing experience and client feedback.
  • Follow the sales process (i.e. using Maintenance agreements, dissemination of information to admin and production, etc.).
  • Manage all communication and correspondence with prospective clients, ensuring a “One Point of Contact.”
  • Recommend and advise clients on additional services or enhancements.
  • Assists in the scheduling of jobs with the Production Coordinators and Director of Production
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation (i.e. client history, sales reports, client contact list, etc.)
  • Initiate and approve all necessary work orders and change orders necessary to communicate with the maintenance department.
  • Prepare proposals, renewals, and contracts using appropriate standard templates.
  • Work with the Client Reps, Production Coordinators, and Crew Leaders to ensure any desires or information expressed by the client is completed accurately.
  • Communicates with Administrative Support team, Accounting Team, Production Coordinators, and Crew Leaders as required to update project status.
  • Works with the Administrative Support team to ensure accurate and timely process flow.
  • Works independently and within a team on special and nonrecurring, as well as ongoing projects.
  • Ensures efficient process and information flow for workload requirements.
  • Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet internal and external client expectations.
  • Maintain high standard of quality of all work performed.
  • Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meeting with VP of Territory and Director of Production to discuss seasonally important topics and to understand production capabilities.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner and ensure accuracy of all paperwork, including, time-off requests, and other necessary information.
  • Arrive for each work day on time and prepared.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 years sales experience, preferably in the landscape industry.
  • Ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrate exemplary knowledge of landscape terminology, plant materials, applicable construction materials, and installation techniques.
  • Previous experience as a Production Coordinator and Maintenance Client Representative, as well as prior management experience.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the “Mariani” approach to Design and follow Mariani standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, including taking direction and constructive feedback from team members, as well as providing feedback to other team members.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties wherever volume deems it necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with external clients and Mariani associates on a consistent basis.
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to navigate and use, with success and accuracy, the company production software (ASSET).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to self development and continuing education.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of general computer functions and programs.
  • Demonstrate accountability for work being performed and completed on schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work requires intermittent physical activity including standing, reaching and prolonged periods of sitting. Work requires driving a car to various job locations. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to client needs and deadlines.
