Building Attendant Job at Field Museum
The Field Museum is a not-for-profit museum located on Chicago’s Museum Campus. In the Field's 125+ year history, which started in 1893 at the World’s Columbian Exposition in the “White City,” we have engaged in research on all seven continents, cultivated a collection of over 40 million specimens and objects, engaged with hundreds of thousands of students from Chicago and the surrounding areas, and welcomed millions of visitors to the Museum each year. We accomplish this through the efforts of our dynamic and diverse staff of not only scientists and educators, but also front line staff in Visitor Services and Membership, Protection Services, Facility Planning and Operations, as well as behind the scenes support staff.
The Field Museum is in search of a Building Attendant to join our Housekeeping team!
The Field Museum’s Housekeeping Team plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and beauty of our historic building for visitors and staff. The housekeeping team is responsible for ensuring consistently clean and well-maintained areas within the public and administrative areas of the museum.
We are hiring a full-time Building Attendant to work five days per week, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Vacuuming
- Damp wiping
- Sanitizing bathroom fixtures
- Mopping floors
- Special project work as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous housekeeping/janitorial experience strongly preferred
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to bend and reach
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability and experience using various tools, products, and equipment
- Ability to work independently and on a team
- Professional demeanor and appearance with a willingness to assist visitors and staff when approached
