Bartender Job at DIOSA Downey
PURPOSE
A bartender is responsible for positive guest interactions while accurately mixing and serving beverages to guests, bar area and restaurant. At all times, bartenders are expected to interact with our guests, while being attentive; providing a fun and professional environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guests, suggest beverages, take beverage orders from guests in the bar area, bar top, or from restaurant servers
- Mix drinks, cocktails, and other bar beverages as ordered and in compliance with company standards
- Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and correct change is returned to guests, balancing the cash register
- Prepare inventory to ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed
- Serve food items to guests seated at the bar area
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, and promotions
- Maintain a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment
- Assists and/ or completes additional tasks as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Consistent positive attitude and works well with others
- Savvy customer service skills
- Knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and food
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal liquor laws
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Education - High School Diploma
- Years of Experience - 1+ years
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States is required
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Work varied shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Food Handlers Card
- Serving Alcohol Responsibly Certification
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have the ability/stamina to work 30-40 hours per week
- Ability to stand/walk for 8-10 hours per day
- Must be able to lift and carry 35-50 lbs
- Will frequently walk, reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data
- Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music and guest traffic
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
