Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois (RMHC-EIWI) provides support to families who have children receiving medical care. RMHC-EIWI serves families 365 days a year.

We currently have an opening for a part-time Family Room Associate in the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Unity Point Health St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position reports to the Family Room Manager.

Duties include:

• Welcome, orient and assist guests and visitors
• Ensure that areas are kept neat, clean, and inviting
• Assist with guest registration process
• Meal and snack preparation
• Prepare guest sleep rooms – includes laundry, making beds, and light cleaning
• Receive and log donations and other data entry
• Monitor Family Room areas to ensure safety for guests
• Answer phone and respond to general inquiries from the public
• Provide guidance for hospital volunteers on duty

Required availability:

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at St. Luke’s is open 8am-7pm daily. This position works as part of a team to ensure coverage during all operating hours. Flexible schedule set monthly with varying opportunities for day, evening, holiday and weekend hours. This position will include 1-2 shifts per week with varying week day and weekend shifts. Typical shifts are 3:30pm-7:00pm M/W/F, 8:00am-7:00pm T/Th, and 8:00am-1:30pm & 1:30pm-7:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Applicants must be reliable and able to work independently, people-oriented, team-oriented, attentive to detail, and have flexibility with scheduling. A high school diploma or GED is required. A valid driver's license is required. Excellent verbal and communication skills are expected as well as demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills. Applicants must have ability to walk, sit, stand, use hands, climb steps, and occasionally life and/or move up to 25 pounds.
