The Associate Director, Employee Relations will lead efforts to develop a North American Employee Relations Community of Expertise (COE) to create and deliver people practices which develop and maintain positive working relationships between the organization and its most valuable resources – it’s people. The incumbent will also help to improve colleague performance and reinforce company culture ensuring teams can be productive and collaborative. The position reports to the Sr. Director, HR Enabling Functions Business Partner but partner with all HRBP’s in North America.
Essential Functions of the job:

Build a North American Employee Relations Community of Expertise in partnership with HR Business Partners and Employment Law.

Maintains, develops, recommends, and implements program objectives procedures.

Investigate any allegations of improper conduct (statutory complaints such as sexual harassment and discrimination and non-statutory complaints such as bullying, poor management practices, and conflict of interests)

Handle grievances and resolve disputes that may arise between employees or between employees and management.

Communicates with employees regarding employee relations concerns; provides guidance and recommendations for resolution of issues.

Counsel employees on concerns related to applicable Equal Employment Opportunity laws including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other similar federal and state laws.

Assists managers and supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.

Manage performance improvement (such as documented coaching and performance improvement plans)

Managing non-medical accommodations.

Measure and analyzing data/trends.

Participates on HR projects (ex., Pay Equity, FLSA) and performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Qualifications:

At least eight (8) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree; at least six (6) years of experience with a Master’s degree.

Developed an employee relations COE a plus

Biotech or pharmaceutical experience a plus

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Thorough understanding of human resources principles, practices, and procedures.

Excellent prioritization and time management skills.

Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, senior leaders and other stakeholders.

Ability to compile, research, and analyze information.

Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree a plus.
