Assistant Recreation Superintendent Job at Jackson County Board of Supervisors
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining and repairing arenas and athletic complexes and parks in the recreation department in accordance with Jackson County policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Maintain all recreation facilities in the County, including arenas, stalls, wash areas, warm up areas, concession stands, equipment, bleachers, restrooms, sports fields, tennis courts, parks, boat ramps and walking tracks. Monitor activities of Caretakers at athletic complexes and notify supervisor of any concerns. Assist in working with community groups and leagues to develop programs and coordinate schedules. Inspect grounds and facilities for cleanliness, safety, and preventative maintenance needs. Coordinate with a variety of associations and organizations for use of the arenas and athletic complexes. Supervise the work of Recreation Worker I, II, and III’s and seasonal employees. Supervise and inspect the grounds maintenance work associated with contract labor. Assists in ordering materials and managing project deadlines associated with construction projects. Teach, promote and enforce safety regulations, providing training sessions to employees on various topics as needed. General assistance in related areas as requested by the Recreation Superintendent or Director.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or its equivalent is required. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the area of recreation facility maintenance is required. Experience and knowledge in leadership position and supervisory skills are strongly preferred. A valid Mississippi Driver’s License is required.
