The College of Business, Engineering, and Technology (CBET) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana invites applications for a 9-month tenure track faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics. This position will begin Fall 2023. Faculty at Texas A & M University-Texarkana are required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.
The position carries a 3/4 course load with the possibility of teaching summer courses. Courses would include introductory, upper-level, and MBA classes in economics in both traditional classroom settings and online.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach undergraduate and/or masters level courses through various modalities in economics and related disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct quality scholarly research
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines
  • Contribute to curriculum and course development
  • Serve on department, college and university committees assigned by the Dean
  • Advise students
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and community
  • Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Requirements
  • Earned doctorate in Economics or a closely related field from an accredited university (ABDs with confirmed doctoral dissertation defense dates will also be considered at the rank of Instructor until the doctorate is conferred)
  • Commitment to high quality teaching, dedication to high standards, and student success
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct scholarly research
  • For the rank of Associate Professor, commensurate teaching, and research experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Economics from an AACSB accredited university
  • Experience directing or coordinating economics-related activities in an organization
  • Record of scholarly publications
  • Experience in teaching upper or lower division courses at the university level utilizing current supporting technologies
  • Ability and experience to teach courses in Finance and Quantitative Methods
