JOB SUMMARY*
Faculty members in the Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy (ASOT) are responsible for teaching, assisting with curriculum development, advising students, and engaging in service and scholarship activities. The faculty reports directly to the Chair and engages in close, ongoing collaboration with ASOT faculty and other University staff/faculty as needed. The faculty position is a full-time, 12-month (44 week) University contract, which has flexible start/end times, opportunity to work remotely as appropriate, and annual contract renewal per satisfactory job performance. The (ASOT) at Spalding University in Louisville, KY is seeking a full-time, 12-month contract, faculty member with at least five years expertise within mental health practice. ASOT is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) and is an entry-level occupational therapy program where students earn an Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) upon graduation. The local region supports varied medical model/traditional and community-based occupational therapy practice opportunities.
Salary for this full-time position is commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical coverage, 403b, 23 Paid Time Off days, and 21 Holidays. After one year of employment, employees receive 100% tuition remission for Undergraduate and Graduate programs, and spouses/dependents are eligible to receive tuition discounts for Undergraduate programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach graduate courses in the Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy entry-level occupational therapy doctorate (OTD) and post-professional OTD programs.
- Develop or continue a scholarship interest area and create opportunities to mentor students in their own scholarship through the Doctoral Capstone Experience.
- Contribute to curricular enhancements as needed in the entry-level OTD.
- Mentor students throughout the program.
- Contribute to the collaborative spirit of the ASOT OTD faculty and students.
- Supports departmental efforts to meet and maintain ACOTE accreditation requirements.
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must meet the following education and clinical requirements:
- Possess a doctorate degree, in occupational therapy or a related area;
- PhD, EdD, or DHS is preferred
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an occupational therapist in KY;
- Currently Certified and Registered by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT);
- Evidence of 5+ years of clinical experience as a licensed occupational therapist;
- Evidence of 1+ years of student supervision as well as agency manager/leadership, and/or academic instruction
- Proof of CPR certification, immunizations, and vaccinations
- Membership with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and applicants state occupational therapy association.
