Baker University seeks qualified applicants to fill a part-time, live-in Area Coordinator position in the Student Affairs office.
The Area Coordinator will serve as a member of the Student Affairs team and is responsible for the execution of the residential student and staff experience as directed by the Assistant Dean of Students. The Area Coordinator will participate in the ongoing recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of the residence hall staff. The Area Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean of Students and shares in the responsibility for crisis management response. The Area Coordinator, in concert with the Assistant Dean of Students, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of four residential complexes for students; recruit, select, train, and supervise 17 student staff members to include 4 Assistant Hall Directors and 13 Resident Assistants; work cooperatively with administrative units in Student Affairs and Maintenance; serve as a conduct officer in relationship to the residential environment; assist in the execution of general management and administration for the Department of Residence Life including room changes, programming, and housing placements; submit requisitions; share on-call responsibilities; assist in the university and the department's response to students in crisis or to general crises affecting the university; participate in university events that support the academic mission of the university, the work of students, and the mission of the Student Affairs team; participation in events at night and on weekends may be necessary; assisting and presenting at all student staff training, and assisting production and accountability of student staff administrative materials and assignments; sustain supportive residential communities that foster and enhance student learning, development, and academic success; and perform other duties as assigned.
The Conference portion includes working with all outside groups renting facilities as designated by the Assistant Dean of Students; assist to recruit, train, and co-supervise Summer Conference Assistants; Supervise when groups check in and out of University housing; and act as a liaison between groups and internal entities as appropriate.
