Job description ( Full Time)Senior Animal Caretaker will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at the Allegan County Animal Shelter for kennel cleaning/walking/feeding of animals.

Responsibilities
- Hands-on role working with and managing kennel staff for daily cleaning to meet shelter health standards.
- Handle general care tasks such as feeding and grooming of the animals
- Assist in restraining animals for veterinary management
- Create intake paperwork for all animal intakes
- Provide intake vaccination/prevention for animals
- Keep records of animal feedings, treatments, and other updates
- Keep up daily laundry and cleaning for animal health per state mandates
- Engage in play activities and exercise with the animals
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment
- Provide weekly inventory list for animal food and shelter supplies
- Develop a weekly schedule for kennel staff
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience is required.
- Previous experience in animal care or other related fields preferred
- Passion for helping and treating animals
- Ability to follow protocols and direction from Operational Manager
- Ability to interact with animals in a calm, non-threatening manner
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stressful environment
- Able to work self-motivated, as well as team-oriented, as job needs develop
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted regularly, 50 pounds assisted
