Airport Service Worker I-Temporary Job at County of Nevada
Definition and Class Characteristics
Interviews will be held February 16th.
Nevada County is seeking a temporary Airport Service Worker to assist staff during the Spring and Summer months of fire season. This is an introductory-level position where individuals, under close supervision, learn and perform services and maintain the County Airport. Furthermore, they refuel and service general aviation aircraft.
Other vital duties include:
- Perform field safety checks
- Inspect airport facilities, runways, runway lights, fueling and other equipment daily to determine maintenance needs, alterations and repairs
- confer with management on priorities, needed repairs and inventory levels
- Provide security of airport properties and general aviation aircraft
- Operate UNICOM (Universal Communications) for runway and weather advisories
- Collect cash and processes credit card transactions; posts journals and reconciles daily balances; prepares billing statements and maintains accounts receivable records; prepares vendor reimbursement statements
- Assign parking spaces for permanent and transient aircraft

Sick Leave:
Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked effective July 1, 2015. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 48 hours of sick leave per fiscal year.
Medical Benefits:
Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.
