Airport Manager – Data Analytics, Research, and Reporting
General Description and Classification Standards
We are looking for an analytics, research, and reporting manager to join our dynamic air service development team and manage the processes and people responsible for accurate data collection, processing, modeling, and analysis. The ideal candidate has a knack for seeing solutions in sprawling data sets and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic opportunities for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Airport Manager will work closely with leaders across the organization to support and implement high-quality, data-driven decisions and promote the expansion of passenger and cargo enterprises at the airport.
Supervision Received
- Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from director.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions and highlight operational performance and trends.
- Perform multifaceted analyses of internal and external trends, market potential, deficiencies, benchmarking and needs assessments to develop effective recommendations, strategies, and plans.
- Manages the design and delivery of reports, insights, and data visualizations that analyze key operations and performance metrics, including regular and ad hoc reports for public consumption.
- Examine, interpret, and report results of analytical initiatives to internal and external stakeholders like senior leadership, the mayor’s staff, City Council, airlines, etc.
- Communicate results and business impacts of research initiatives to stakeholders.
- Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining, and engineering as well as modeling, visualization, and communication deliverables both for air service development and as a member of a cross-organizational team.
- Utilize various data sources, including Aerobahn, Cirium, OAG, DOT/BTS, WiserTrade, airline reports, TSA and CBP reports, etc.
- Manage staff and subcontractors as necessary to achieve objectives.
- Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive policies and processes.
- Identify and leverage internal and external information sources, build effective working relationships with subject matter experts within the airport and throughout the aviation industry.
Decision Making
- Determines priorities, work methods, and work timeline in assignments. Uses judgement and discretion in developing recommendations.
Leadership Provided
- Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees. May lead or instruct less experienced workers in analytical methods. Expected to advice senior staff on new methods for collecting and reporting data, visualization of data and other technology.

- Familiarity with the commercial aviation industry.
- Excellent logic, problem solving and analytical skills – both quantitative and qualitative.
- Knowledge of organizational, financial, strategic, and operational analyses.
- Skill in communicating highly complex material effectively according to the audience, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and capabilities.
- Experience using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to develop compelling and clear analyses and briefings.
- Manage aggressive timelines, targets, and multiple priorities.
- Ability to mine, analyze, and present data in a meaningful way, including using visualization tools.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree in business, a closely related field.
Five (5) to (8) years of data analytics, aviation, consulting, or market research and three years of supervisory or management experience are required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in management, statistics, business or public administration or a related field.
- Experience within the commercial aviation industry.
Licensures and Certifications
- None required. Preference for aviation accreditations (C.M., ACE, AAE, IAP, etc.)
