Some of what you'll be doing:

Join a high-performance team responsible for scheduling airport shared facilities and resources such as gates, aircraft parking stands, airfield buses, common-use ticket counters and baggage systems. Manage associated systems for scheduling airline resources and lead the Port’s efforts in establishing Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) processes to ensure efficient use of limited resources.

  • You will maintain advanced gated flight schedules and resource allocations for air carriers by applying developed airport business rules.
  • You will schedule off-peak or ad hoc charter operations in accordance with standard operating guidelines.
  • You will assist frontline staff with real-time allocation of limited airport resources to meet increasing airline demand.
  • You will be the subject matter expert and liaison regarding the scheduling of shared facilities within the airport and will coordinate with local airline and ground handler representatives to maximize the functional capacity of limited airport resources.
  • You will serve as the system administrator for the GroundStar Airport Operations Database (AODB), Resource Management System (RMS); which includes live and seasonal schedule environments and for Safegate visual docking guidance system, the Surface Area Management (SAM) system, and the associated integrations of these systems into the AODB.
  • You will develop existing RMS and AODB systems to provide capacity for future data demands and position the airport to better leverage technology in the future.
  • You will provide input for the operations of the Flight Information Display System (FIDS).
  • You will develop new methods for increasing schedule reliability and the digital transfer of gated flight data while expanding A-CDM processes.
  • You will assist in training and system familiarization of the RMS, Airfield Bus Dispatch software, Safegate, and SAM systems for frontline users.
  • You will participate in technical, construction, operational reviews and project meetings while providing direct communication to various airline stakeholders regarding shared facilities, preferential gate usage and future facility allocation and utilization.
  • You will create and modify statistical reports based on information housed within the AODB which requires a working knowledge or basic understanding of SQL reporting or INFORM Business Intelligence Tools.
  • You will develop dashboards and internal communication processes to bring awareness around airport key performance indicators.
  • You will respond to airport emergency situations 24/7 on-call as well as serve as an active member of Snow Team, working 12 hours on, 12 hours off during snow events in an Incident Command structure.
Who you are:

Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:

  • Experienced – You have three (3) years’ experience in airline or airport operations at a medium or large-hub commercial service airport.
  • Educated – You possess a bachelor’s degree
  • Desired – We hope you have a master’s degree and two (2) years airline/airport project management experience at a medium or large-hub airport and/or gate and resource management experience.

  • Airport or Airline Operations – You understand gate layouts, airport layout designs and terminal facility infrastructure.
  • Technology – You have familiarity of Resource Management Systems and industry software such as GroundStar, Aerobahn, SITA, or Amadeus Technologies. You’re able to read construction phasing plans and technical drawings using (CAD). You understand database management and manipulation.
  • Communication – You have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present information to stakeholders. Contribute and collaborate within cross-functional and cross-departmental teams.
  • Customer Service – You enjoy working with customers and provide great customer service and follow-up. You enjoy collaborating with direct airline schedulers, network planners, airline operations staff and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical – You’re analytical and feel comfortable making decisions when evaluating and responding to system conditions. You think creatively to develop alternatives in advance of real-time events, as needed.
What else you need to know :
  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
  • Work Schedule – Due to operational needs, a 7-day work week is necessary. Employee may work an alternate work schedule that may include at least one weekend day (4 ten-hour shifts or 5 eight-hour shifts). This position supports emergency situations 24/7 on-call as well as serves as an active member of Snow Team, working 12 hours on, 12 hours off during snow events in an Incident Command structure.
  • Work Environment – Will generally work in an office environment, with periods of exposure on the airfield apron.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle.   • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
