Salary: $27.50 - $31.29 Hourly

The Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) performs airport operations and maintenance duties. Responds as part of a team to airport emergencies to provide fire and rescue services. Performs snow removal, inspections, maintenance, and operates equipment necessary to maintain airport property and facilities. Ensures safe airfield conditions and performs a variety of administrative, professional, and technical tasks in support of the airport.

Schedule: The Kelly schedule consists of a 9-day cycle where each team (A, B, C shifts) works one 17-hour shift, followed by 31 hours off duty, works another 17-hour shift, followed by 31 hours off duty, then works a final 17-hour shift, followed by 4 consecutive days off duty. One (1 )hour will be deducted for meals on each 17 hour shift worked, with 16 hours paid for each shift worked. Scheduled shift hours are 05:30 - 22:30.

Qualifications

• One year of firefighting experience required, experience with airport firefighting is preferred.

• State of Colorado /IFSAC Firefighter II preferred

• State of Colorado / IFSAC Airport Firefighter preferred

• Colorado Class B CDL with airbrake and tanker endorsement preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); firefighting techniques and principles; heavy vehicle operation
• Knowledge of FAA (CFR Part139) and TSA (TSR 1542) rules and regulations; understanding of airport operations (airside, landside, terminal) preferred.
• Interpersonal skills are necessary.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Act reasonably and quickly in an emergency situation.
• Read, comprehend, and interpret rules and regulations. Concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to pass and maintain NFPA/OSHA physical.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, tenants, and other governmental agencies and departments, the community, airport users, and the traveling public.
• Write reports following a standard format with basic proficiency in the use of computer software and applications (i.e.,Google Docs and Sheets).
• Lift and carry moderately heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (25-50 lbs.) frequently, 50-100 lbs. occasionally; requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Basic knowledge of firefighting and rescue techniques.
• Basic knowledge of FAA regulations (CFR Part 139) and airport operations.
• Work is typically performed outdoors with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, extremes of temperatures, noxious fumes, and odors, exposure to hazardous situations during firefighting and rescue operations.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

• Must possess valid State of Colorado Driver's License with a satisfactory motor vehicle record without restrictions
• Must possess EMT-Basic (either valid CO license or NREMT with ability to get CO license within 90 days of employment)
• Must possess State of Colorado / IFSAC Firefighter I (or be able to obtain Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, non-accredited reciprocity for IFSAC - Firefighter I that has been issued from within the time frame of the current NFPA standard (NFPA 1001, 2013 Edition) for the Firefighter I level. Reciprocity must be obtained within 60 days of employment. CDFPC Reciprocity)
• Must possess State of Colorado / IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations (or be able to obtain Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, non-accredited reciprocity for Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations that has been issued from within the time frame of the current NFPA standard (NFPA 1072, 2017 edition) for the Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations level . Reciprocity must be obtained within 60 days of employment. CDFPC Reciprocity).
• Completion of FAA ARFF training within 30 days of employment
• Completion of FAA ARFF burn within 30 days of employment
• Obtain a Colorado Class B CDL with airbrake and tanker endorsement within twelve months of employment
• Completion of NIMS ICS-100 within six months of employment
• Completion of NIMS ICS-200 within six months of employment
• Completion of NIMS ICS-300 within two years of employment
• Completion of NIMS ICS-400 within four years of employment
• Completion of NIMS ICS-700 within six months of employment
• Completion of NIMS ICS-800 within six months of employment
• Completion of Colorado Firefighter II within two years of employment
• Completion of Colorado Airport Firefighter within three years of employment
