Aircraft Painter Job at D-J Engineering

D-J Engineering produces very large assemblies, the details that go into them, and all tooling for anything that flies. We manufacture parts for commercial, military, and general aviation, and for space launch vehicles. As part of our commitment to our customers, we have brought painting in house to better control lead times and quality. As a painter with D-J Engineering, you will be in a critical role to help us successfully complete our projects on time and while meeting our strict quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Using equipment such as airless paint sprayers, sand blasters, HVLP spray guns, pressure pots, and an airbrush on occasion for touch up or critical areas.
- Sandblasting large parts and tools in a non-climate controlled booth. The booth is however heated to support cure times.
- Sandblasting handheld parts in a blast cabinet.
- Part preparation by cleaning, stripping, masking, etc. defined by engineering requirements or drawings.
- Blend and mix multi part paints, primers, and epoxies.
- Cleanup and daily maintenance of painting equipment.
- Reading blue prints to meet customer requirements.
- Verifying wet and dry film thicknesses.
- Touchup as required while meeting customer requirements.
- Complete other duties around the shop as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of prior painting experience, preferably in the aircraft industry.
- Must have the ability to pass a special medical/respiratory exam to wear a half or full face respirator and blast hood.
- Must have the ability to work flexible hours including weekends when needed.
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as kneeling, lifting, and working overhead.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to work in a very fast paced environment.
- Candidates must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
