I. JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. EDUCATION: Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate; high school preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience with a geriatric population and assisting with programmed activities.

C. SKILLS: Thorough knowledge of skills associated with the CNA Certificate as required by Florida law; knowledge of the problems affecting the social, psychological and economic well-being of the elderly; ability to physically assist with moving, lifting and maneuvering clients as needed; effective communication skills.

II. NATURE OF WORK

This position deals directly with the elderly on a day-to-day basis. Provide therapeutic social and health activities and services to adults who have functional impairments in a protective environment that provides as non institutional an environment as possible.

III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cheerfully greet and receive clients each day.

2. Record daily attendance as each ADC client arrives.

3. Accept a team leadership role, as assigned by ADC/ADHC Nurse, in any of the following areas; Nutrition Program, Activities Program, Rehab/Therapy Program or other Adult Daycare related programs.

4. Participate in recreation and social activities.

5. Participate in group planning sessions for nutrition, therapy, recreational and social activities.

6. Encourage group socialization amoung and with all clients.

7. Offer conversation and support to all clients.

8. Give assistance to those clients who need help with meals.

9. Give assistance to those clients who need help with personal care, including, but not limited to, lifting and helping to move clients from wheelchairs to toilet and back.

10. Prepare morning and afternoon snacks according to Florida Department of Education's nutrition guidelines.

11. Assist the ADC Nurse with blood pressure, pulse, respiratory and weight checks.

12. Assist the ADC Nurse with charting in client files.

13. Complete Florida Department of Education's nutrition forms.

14. Complete Adult Day Care Attendance forms.

15. Assist the ADC Case Manager in providing service for clients.

16. Maintain close observation of clients at all times and report unusual behavior to the ADC Case Manager and Adult Day Health Care / Adult Day Care Nurse.

17. Ensure safety of clients at all times.

18. Help maintain the appearance of the ADC.

19. In the event the President of the United States or the Governor of the State of Florida declares a disaster or a state of emergency, the Adult Day Care Certified Nursing Assistant shall perform his/her duties under the direction of the Executive Director as prescribed by the COASL Disaster Preparedness Plan in order to implement emergency relief measures and/or activities. All actions under this plan shall be for the purpose of ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the elderly in the disaster area.[1]

20. Display initiative in presenting supervisors with new ideas to benefit the Council, its staff and its clientele.

21. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times with supervisors, co-workers, clients and the general public.

22. Other duties as required by the Adult Day Care Director and / or Adult Day Care Site Manager.
