Administrative Specialist, Medical Assistance Transportation Program Job at Anne Arundel County, MD
Job Description
Receive calls from Medicaid clients requesting transportation to medical appointments, screening each caller for medical necessity, non-emergency nature, no alternate means of transportation, verification that service is obtained at the closest location, verification that Medical Assistance number is valid that service to be provided is covered by Medicaid, checks DMV Records. Inquire if there is a need for an attendant and/or wheelchair accessibility, and provide adequate notification time of appointment (requests must be made 48 hours in advance). Provide daily documentation to vendor/contractor of all approved clients and pertinent information to complete the transport, such as mode of transportation, appointment time and appointment location. Maintain adequate filing for transportation documents to include approvals, no-shows, denials and client complaints, and other documents for eligibility standards. Enter client transportation activity in database. Maintain required annual documentation of eligibility. Must display a willingness and ability to fulfill requests from supervisors for special assignments which will enhance the efficiency or effectiveness of the program: activities are generally clerical in nature.
Must be reliable in attendance and punctual, providing for adequate coverage in times of pre-scheduled absences and must utilize time in an efficient manner. Must display tact and professionalism with co-workers, clients and general public. Must be dependable, adaptable and cooperative in accepting direction from authorities. Must display initiative and willingness to learn. Responds to call down drills or actual emergency events as soon as possible, regardless of when message is received. May perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
May be designated as an emergency essential employee at the time of an emergency and may be required to report to work or remain at work to continue agency operations during an emergency situation. May be asked to do a task outside of normal day-to-day job responsibilities. No employee will be asked to perform a task that the employee has not been trained to do or is outside of the employee’s scope of legal practice. The Health Officer may excuse or require the employee’s presence as circumstances and conditions warrant.
Minimum Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google
