Department Overview:
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Section of Addiction Medicine, Improving Addiction Care Team (IMPACT), is devoted to providing substance use disorder (SUD) care to hospitalized patients through direct patient care, research, education, and advocacy. IMPACT is a well-established clinical service that supports regional, state, and national expansion of hospital-based addiction care. IMPACT supports systems-level change through clinical care, education, advocacy, and research.
Function/Duties of Position:
The IMPACT Administrative Coordinator, working as a member of the interdisciplinary team, provides programmatic assistance and support to the Improving Addiction Care Team (IMPACT). This position serves as part of a collaborative care team with social workers, recovery coaches, physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, peer mentors and other staff to facilitate referrals for patients to services within all levels of the addiction treatment care continuum.

Duties of Position:
  • Collaborates and consults with IMPACT (physicians, nurse practitioner/ PA, social workers, and peers) and clinical partners within and outside of OHSU to identify and coordinate post-hospitalization substance use treatment plan.
    • Make referrals by providing clinical information and documentation to support patient transitions of care to appropriate services.
    • Identifies resources and coordinates with community providers, including opioid treatment programs (OTPs), buprenorphine clinics, primary care, and other community services.
    • Scheduling intake appointments, arranging follow up appointments, assisting patient with obtaining PCP.
    • Connecting to primary care and outpatient mental health services. Liaison to community treatment agencies (e.g. Skilled Nursing Facilities/SNF).
    • Maintains list of community treatment providers and processes
  • Facilitates arrangements to execute discharge plan; Calls, photocopies, faxes, or emails clinical and/or referral information for post-acute services.
  • Communicates with hospital financial services (HFS) about need for insurance enrollment.
  • Develops strong, effective working relationships with interdepartmental specialists and programs, outside agencies, facilities, payers and other relevant community resources with direction and support from IMPACT leadership and social work staff.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • Four (4) years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • An Associate’s degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology and two (2) years of general office or secretarial experience.
  • Requires intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook or similar programs.
  • Must be comfortable working as part of an interprofessional team that includes physicians, social workers, and peers with lived experience in recovery.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of general office or secretarial experience.
  • Professional experience working in a community substance use treatment or community mental health setting preferred.
  • Professional experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with common medications and general medical knowledge and terminology.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work on a computer for up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Must be able to communicate via phone.
  • Must be able to attend meetings onsite at OHSU Marquam Hill campus
