This is a leadership position, not a classroom position: Imani House is seeking an individual to join the Imani House team as an Activity Assistant. The person should be able to learn our program and help the Site Director, and Program Directors guide Classroom Monitors and Instructors. They should have a creative mind, lesson plan experience. Potential for growth and leadership once adjusted. The position is part-time up to 15 - 20 hours a week at our headquarters and on-site at the school. Minimum 4 days a week. NOTE: This is a great opportunity to enhance your leadership and youth activity skills. There are opportunities for advancement for the right person

This Position requires good potential toward leadership and an ability to work closely with our staff to help the Program Director Review Lesson Plans with suggestions for activity implementation as listed in our curriculum outline which engage children in learning important history, the world around them, build critical thinking skills, engage in leadership, learn responsibility and gratitude, positive thinking and other developmental assets all while having fun and exploring.

In addition to experience, our ideal candidate possesses an enthusiastic, energetic, creative personality that allows them to connect effectively with staff, management, and students. They must have experience in using engaging and creative activities, strong ideas to implement the current curriculum, and an ability to cooperate with management and support staff.

The Imani House After-School Activity Assistant will work with our after-school staff and management, to review activities, themes and other based on the accepted curriculum. They will also help in the use of our extensive supply or materials for the children.

Applicant’s responsibilities:

  • The Activity Assistant will work with support from the Program Management to help staff to create and implement effective Lessons that engage and inspire students based on the current curriculum of Imani House
  • They must be sharp, and care about fun and learning values for children that staff can turn into interesting and engaging experiences
  • They will learn the objective of the current curriculum elements already established and support the management in sharing these important aspects of youth development through fun and learning for our students.
  • Understand or be willing to learn Theme based instruction from our standing age-appropriate curriculum in coordination with the Site Supervisor and staff.
  • Able to work with our team enhancing or developing lessons and themes based on the overall objectives of Imani House and the Department of Youth's Social, Emotional Learning Goals
  • This is a great opportunity to hone your leadership skills with assistance from our Program Director and Assistant Program Director

Qualifications:

  • Must possess experience working with children and planning lessons
  • Hold at least an Associate’s Degree
  • 2 or more years of experience implementing elementary-age activities that improve analytical thinking, instill values and global appreciation and understanding using our curriculum and materials
  • Be creative, creative, creative, cooperative, energetic, and passionate about education and youth development
  • Be able to assist in leading this curriculum on-site with the staff
  • Understanding of Social-Emotional learning a plus
  • Good communication skills, planning, and reporting skills
  • COVID Vaccination is required, as well as background checks
