Accounting Specialist responsibilities include maintaining accurate and current financial records, preparing various reports for executive and other management teams and reconciling bank statements and accounts. The position will also involve work with various accounting software programs used to process business transactions, such as accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful Accounting Specialist will help ensure that the bank’s financial records and underlying transactions are processed efficiently, provide timely information to management and are accurate. Among the responsibilities you will undertake, both personally and as part of a larger accounting team, are:

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Perform various general ledger and bank account reconciliations in a timely manner
• Prepare digital copies of records on a regular basis for internal customers as well as auditors and external customers/vendors
• Research, track, and resolve accounting problems or errors that may arise
• Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes
• Record and maintain fixed assets and prepaid expenses as they are paid
• Assist with daily and end of month reporting procedures
• Assist with accounts payable as needed
• Cross-train in various accounting department functions in order to assist the team during vacations or illnesses
• Comply with privacy policies and procedures to maintain customer confidentiality and information protection
• Comply with all federal, state and local regulatory rules and regulations governing financial institutions, as well as all company policies and procedures
• Complete and pass all required regulatory compliance training as assigned
• Perform any additional duties and tasks assigned by management
• Be positive and communicate areas you enjoy working in or would like to learn more about
• Bring areas of inefficiency and process improvement ideas to manager’s attention

Qualifications & Skills:

• Detail oriented
• Exhibits strong drive and initiative
• Working experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
• Possesses strong analytical, time management and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Excel, 10-key by touch, Word, Outlook and Adobe PDF
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

Education, Experience & Licenses:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, college courses in accounting preferred
• Two plus years of accounting experience
