Summary
This position works to advance the ministry of Awana by assisting the Finance team by processing accounts payable, weekly payment processing, corporate credit card oversight, department corporate card expense reports, sales tax exemption certificates, and a variety of other financial transactions as needed. This position will work with both domestic and international transactions. This position will also assist with other miscellaneous office duties such as scanning/copying, filing and other light general office duties, as well as coordinating department meetings and events.
This position is primarily remote and will work in the St. Charles, IL vicinity with the ability to report into the St. Charles office as needed.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
- Process invoices, credit memos, and PO payments
- Process weekly payments – ACH/EFT, wire, and check
- Assist with international payment requests and quarterly payments
- Corporate Credit Card
- Manage the Finance department corporate credit card and submit monthly expense reports
- Prepare the Technology department corporate credit card monthly expense reports
- Perform expense report oversight and review
- Assist with Technology invoice tracking and submission.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Research and resolve issues submitted to the Finance help desk.
- Assist with annual external audit preparation.
- Assist with reviewing and processing customer sales tax exemption certificates.
- Scan, file, or distribute documents upon request and maintain electronic document folders.
- Assist the VP of Finance with coordinating team meetings, presentations, or other related activities.
- Support, uphold, and demonstrate the Awana cultural values in internal and external communications and relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college or university desired but not required.
- Minimum two years related experience in an accounting department performing accounts payable and related duties, strongly preferred.
- Basic or intermediate Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills, with emphasis on Google sheets and MS Excel preferred.
- Familiar with general office equipment and practices preferred.
- Experience with Concur, Salesforce and Intacct a plus.
- Experience with non-profit sales tax exemption certificates a plus.
- General understanding of the Bible and the Christian church in its various expressions preferred.
- Working knowledge of children’s inspirational or ministry space including demonstrated program/product familiarity preferred.
- Familiarity with the US Church landscape and/or global nonprofits preferred.

Spiritual Life
Must be a born-again Christian. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Must be in agreement with the Awana Doctrinal Statement. Must be in fellowship with the body of Christ through a local church. Regularly engages in reading the Holy Bible as a guide and standard for living.
