ACCOUNTANT I - CORPORATE – FAYETTEVILLE, NC

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, some nights and weekends
OVERVIEW OF GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Applies accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Prepares daily cash flow analysis for all assigned funds.
- Reconciles bank statements monthly to the general ledger and daily cash flow report
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital and interprets current and projected company financial position for other managers.
- Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions before settlement.
- Maintains fixed asset records.
- Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of general accounting system and accounting control procedures.
- Verifies all bank deposits for accuracy.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Devise and implement a system for general accounting.
- Maintain company benefits.
- Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Prepare daily deposit slips for banks.
- Prepare payroll.
- Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
- Collect appropriate data and prepare Federal, state, and local reports.
- Ensure agency complies with Federal, state, and other financial, legal requirements Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in Accounting.
Experience: Two to four years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience or training may be considered.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software; spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Employee must be sufficiently computer literate to learn agency software within 60 days of employment.
Certificates & Licenses
No certifications or licenses are required for this position.
Other Requirements
- Employee must have good math skills, able to calculate figures and amounts.
- A working knowledge of modern accounting practices and principles is essential to this position.
- Employee must also be proficient in computerized accounting methods and able to operate a 10-key calculator.
