Accident Reconstructionist, SIU, Field Position in MA Job at MAPFRE
Job Summary
Accident Reconstructionist-ACTAR accreditation preferred but not required. Remote-supporting the MA area and must be able to travel within the state.
Must have the ability to work with a high level of independence analyzing and investigating low to high exposure claims and potential litigation on multiple lines of coverage (e.g. Personal/Commercial). Individual will be responsible for analyzing automobile physical damage and crash data retrieval (CDR) to determine the cause of motor vehicle collisions. Provide expert opinions regarding the origin of physical damage, approximate speeds during a collision, and the accuracy of insured and claimant statements regarding collision events. Comment on severity of impact and/or damage enhancement. Work with inside staff, field adjusters, defense counsel and vendors to assist in bringing files to conclusion. Establish working relationships with federal, state and local law enforcement. Attend depositions and testify in court as required. Strong oral and written communication with internal/external customers is required and should be timely and professional. May participate in the training of other claims personnel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Education: ACTAR Accreditation, preferred but not required, and experience in Crash Data Retrieval (CDR)required. Bachelor’s or equivalent related experience
- Experience: 5+ years
- Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of practices within field. Integrates and evaluates new advancements in industry, concepts, techniques and standards to contribute to successful business results. Considered an expert in the field within the industry
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- College degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent course of study, with Accident Reconstruction training - ACTAR accreditation preferred but not required and Newton’s Laws of Motion.
- A minimum of five years conducting accident reconstructions and crash data retrieval/interpretation.
- Training in Forensic Photography methods and at-scene Auto Collision techniques.
- PC skills including familiarity with Crash Data Retrieval software and CDR report interpretation preferred.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Appropriate adjuster licensing and/or the ability to obtain licenses in states serviced by the corporation may be required. Ability to maintain the required continuing education credits for CDR and ACTAR. If not ACTAR certified, willing to pursue accreditation.
