3D Pipe Designer/ Engineer Job at The Systems Group
The Systems Group is looking for an energetic individual to be our next 3d Pipe Designer/ Engineering teammate. We are looking for someone to help in the day-to-day engineering projects that occur, mainly pipe design/some structure, but to also be part of the big picture and contribute to the long-term strategy of our operations across the country. PURPOSE: Our engineering teammates are not only problem solvers but creative think tanks utilizing the latest in 3d software and hardware, along with a fleet of laser scanners to assist with brownfield and greenfield projects. We handle small projects all the way up to designing pipes and structures for an entire steel mill.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a complete set of Piping Construction drawings utilizing 2-D and 3-D CADD skills using AutoCAD Plant 3d with the ability to work in and reference 3D models
- Understanding/following SOW and completing assigned tasks in time
- Must be able to hand sketch a pipe ISO
- Must be able to accurately draw complex Piping drawings from sketches or specifications using appropriate terms, procedures, and drafting standards
- Exercise independent judgment by utilizing the correct design criteria based on knowledge from vendor data and project scope
- Check drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards, and completeness
- Review manufacturer’s drawings and other discipline drawings and any existing plan drawings for physical interferences
- Communicate with the project engineer and other disciplines to resolve any design problems with the manufacturer’s drawings or interferences
- Advise, assist, and occasionally direct drafting personnel of a lesser grade in performance of their assigned duties
- Assure the company quality assurance procedures are followed in the completion of assigned tasks
- Provides technical support for client inquiries
- Demonstrates the ability to develop material specifications, and requisitions for purchase
- Creates complex contractor scope of work and provides unassisted field management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- AutoCAD Plant 3d Experience, and other Autodesk software are a plus
- Familiar with Office 365/Excel/Outlook
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Pipe fitting/welding background is a plus
- Other education or certificates will be taken into consideration along with applicable work experience.
- Computer skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential
