We are currently accepting applications for the position of Workers Compensation Specialist

Principal Purpose of Position:

  • Aggressively manage all potential workers’ compensation claims, including COVID, to resolution, including conducting causal analysis and identifying indicators of potential fraud.
  • Correspond with the local site advocates and management, HR representatives, witnesses, treating doctors and clinics, adjusters, attorneys, and injured employees as needed within the first 24-48 hours of a incident. Monitor all open cases daily for any change in status.
  • Correspond with management regarding claim status, return to work status, work restrictions and medical appointments.
  • Report claims to the carrier when necessary. Keep internal documentation of incidents.
  • Select and manage vendors for field case nursing, surveillance, medical canvassing, social media and background checks, etc.
  • Assist the company’s defense attorney(s) in preparation of cases. This includes investigation of accidents, inquiries and preparing material and evidence for the company to use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Work with the carrier’s SIU when necessary for claims involving red flags of potential fraud.
  • Assist in selection of new panel doctors when necessary for treatment of workers’ compensation claims and Independent Medical Evaluations.
  • Help facilitate return to work initiatives with local management for workers’ compensation cases.
  • Maintain an approved doctors list per state and work directly with medical providers. Communicate any changes as needed to operations.
  • For independent medical exams ensure needed records are collected and a cover letter to the IME doctor is drafted and delivered timely by adjusters or designated vendors.
  • Complete and distribute loss runs, internal monthly reports and loss prevention scorecards documenting WC claim and legal activity.
  • Conduct training for Operations as needed for claim related issues and procedures.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of claim reviews held with operations, adjusters, brokers and attorneys. Participate and keep minutes of periodic claims reviews.
  • Handle monthly WC bill review.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the company’s Risk Management Information System (RMIS) - Riskonnect.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Training:

  • Four year college degree or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years workers’ compensation claims management experience.
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience preferred; New Jersey experience required.
  • AIC, CPCU or SCLA certifications preferred or ability to obtain.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
