About us:

American white oak (Quercus alba) is a tree species currently occupying more than 104 million acres (about the area of California) of public and private forestland across much of the eastern and central United States. Not only do white oak forests support extensive plant and animal biodiversity, white oak is also among the most commercially important hardwoods, generating billions of dollars annually and supplying necessary material to industries such as furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and wine and spirits.

The White Oak Initiative is a diverse coalition of partners committed to the long-term sustainability of America’s white oak forests as well as the economic, social, and environmental benefits they provide. Partners include white oak-dependent or interested industries, trade associations, landowners, conservation organizations, agencies, universities, and non-profits.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Steering Committee, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility to ensure programmatic and staffing excellence, financial well-being, strong and growing programs, and execution of its mission to empower all to fully contribute. The Executive Director is both the lead administrator of the White Oak Initiative and a key facilitator for the implementation of White Oak programs.
