WAREHOUSE WORKER II Job at Central Michigan University

Performs services and duties specifically relating to one of the “primary function assignments” noted below and other tasks such as the receipt, care, and issuance of supplies, and equipment from the central warehouse facility or its storage areas, communicates with vendors and departments to resolve shipping issues, product issues, and product returns, conducts the pick up, delivery, and sorting of related items, assembles, disassembles, and installs new and used furniture, participates in the delivery of products to university departments and the set up of special events such as Special Olympics and Commencement, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Possession of a valid chauffeur’s license.
Two years of work experience in warehousing or stockroom operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of delivery services and moving functions.
Meet and adhere to the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret building diagrams, drawings, layouts, or moving requests.
Demonstrated ability to accurately perform the arithmetic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Must be able to maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of computerized systems, equipment, and software applications.
Certified for operating material handling and lift truck equipment.
Demonstrated ability to follow and/or interpret oral or written directions.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.
Ability to perform all of the essential functions and requirements of the job including: lifting (up to 70 pounds), reaching, bending, kneeling, and climbing and descending stairs.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of campus buildings and departments.
Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Software System and Applications
Demonstrated knowledge of warehousing operations, inventory control procedures, and space allocation.

STORES:
Experience pulling orders
Demonstrated knowledge of considerations necessary for new product additions and product deletions.
Experience conducting physical inventories.
Experience with computerized inventory control systems
Knowledge of items related to plumbing, carpentry, metals and other trade related materials

RECEIVING:
Experience in shipping/receiving
Experience with LTL and FTL incoming and outgoing freight
Experience with computerized receiving software
Experience with small package delivery services

MAILROOM:
Experience in route delivery with scheduled stops.
Experience handling and distributing confidential and sensitive information in variety of media.
Experience casing routes to efficiently meet prioritized delivery commitments.
Experience keeping records of tracked materials including the following forms of mail: certified, registered, insured, express and priority mail with special services.

FURNITURE ASSEMBLY/DELIVERY:
Experience assembling all lines of Steelcase systems furniture.
Experience repairing and assembling of office chairs from varying manufacturers.
Experience with light carpentry duties

STORES:

Assists in taking physical inventories.
Marks incoming and outgoing products, materials, supplies and documents with proper identification codes and accompanying paper work.
Fills University Stores stock item orders on request.
Prepares necessary reports and documentation.
Maintains neat and orderly storage areas.
May assist in preparation and set up of the University Salvage, Surplus and Auction Sales.
Places freight and stock items in the proper storage areas.
Performs moving and delivery duties when assigned.

RECEIVING:
Checks incoming orders against requisitions, invoices, packing slips, etc.
Assists in taking physical inventories.
Marks incoming and outgoing products, materials, supplies and documents with proper identification codes and accompanying paper work.
Prepares necessary reports and documentation.
Maintains neat and orderly work areas.
May assist in preparation and set up of the University Salvage, Surplus and Auction Sales.
Reviews incoming freight documentation and completes inspection of the freight for damages and accuracy.
Places freight and stock items in the proper storage areas.
Performs moving and delivery duties when assigned.

MAILROOM
Cases mail for efficient route delivery.
Prepares necessary reports and documentation.
Maintains neat and orderly work areas.
May assist in preparation and set up of the University Salvage, Surplus and Auction Sales.
Places freight and stock items in the proper storage areas.
Performs moving and delivery duties when assigned.
Delivers and picks up office documents and/or packages on request.
Delivers and picks up mail from university buildings & offices.
Delivers priority, insured parcels, and mail, which may require signatures upon delivery.
Sorts mail, parcel post, and UPS packages.
Picks up and delivers mail including certified, registered, insured and express mail from the US Post Office and other off campus facilities.
Works some holiday and weekends

About the Department
The central mailroom is responsible for pickup and delivery of all USPS mail, UPS and interoffice mail to all buildings and departments on campus. All mail is processed and delivered to the Mt Pleasant post office daily. Please see duties and responsibilities listed for Mailroom
