Position Title: Virtual Programming Coordinator
Reports to: Director, Cultural Arts
FLSA status: Non-exempt/hourly
Summary
The Virtual Programming Coordinator is responsible for supporting the mission of SpArc Services and
assisting the director in day-to-day oversight of the virtual programs and activities, assisting the staff in
leading their programs, and future growth and development of the program.
Position Responsibilities
- Create age-appropriate arts, employment, and goal-oriented curriculum and activitiescollaboratively with program directors, for the virtual program participants on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. The activities will foster engagement, choice and personal development and promote development and education in all arts-related and pre-vocational experiences.
- Send daily emails to remote program list.
- Monitor the ‘time online’ for each participant and document time on spreadsheet; train other staff to take over assignment tasks as needed.
- Write notes on each of the participants for both morning and afternoon sessions of virtual
- Lead daily group classes
- Research new ideas for virtual programming, find guest speakers or presenters based on themes
- Monitor staff interactions and staff performance on virtual groups, provide feedback to director/associate director as needed in order to provide coaching to staff
- Ensure all interactions reflect an understanding of people with disabilities, maximize participant choice and treat all participants with personal dignity.
- Anticipate possible problems or challenges and work to prevent unnecessary conflict. Problem solve issues regarding participant situations, with or without assistance.
- Provide virtual assistance to participants and their families to help them connect to programming.
- Provide initial orientation to new virtual participants; obtain correct contact information and review policies for successful participation
- Immediately bring to the attention of supervisor and program specialist any concerns about the participants.
- Positively and professionally represent SpArc Philadelphia at all times.
- Develop trusting professional relationships with families and support staff while maintaining professional boundaries between families, other support staff and individuals served.
- Develop opportunities for growth and development of the virtual program, staying current with best practices.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Minimum three (3) years experience or training certification in working with people with disabilities in a health care or social services setting or in the arts.
- Clear criminal record and child abuse history, complete medical and drug screen (paid for by SpArc Philadelphia).
- Demonstrated competence in varied art mediums and knowledge of how to use the arts as an engagement strategy for people with disabilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and varied abilities.
- Demonstrates self-direction, independence, excellent communication and management skills, excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail including prioritization
- Ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously, work well under pressure and flexibility to respond to changing priorities, unplanned events or emergencies
- Understands the needs of participants and adjusts behavior accordingly. Able to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and positive attitude while supporting independence.
- Able to provide crisis intervention, including de-escalation of behavior.
- Demonstrates the organization’s core competencies and solid customer service skills.
- Effective skills in virtual forums (zoom/google meet/etc), Excel, Microsoft Word, and other relevant technological skills
- Ability to translate regulations into practice. Must understand the importance of effective record keeping.
- Ability to form effective partnerships with all stakeholders, including family, caregivers and funders.
- Must be willing to obtain medication administration certification.
Physical Environment/Working Conditions
Environment subject to change; office, open classroom, home or studio, based on needs of SpArc Philadelphia. May be required to lift and/or physically support participants independently or with other staff.
