advises victims of their rights and fulfills all responsibilities pursuant to statute (Victims’ Bill of Rights)

works with victims of non-violent criminal offenses; provides information on charging, status, and collects relevant information for restitution

completes and files Order of Protection forms, obtains police reports and accompanies victim through the court procedures-explains the function of the State's Attorney's office to victims of violent crimes

makes referrals for counseling for victims with various social agencies
-
informs families and victims of progression and disposition of cases
-
confers with the Department of Children and Family Services in cruelty to children cases
-
collects pertinent information from victims to assist with prosecution of case
-
provides referrals for emergency shelter; makes appropriate hotline calls to Department of Children and Family Services and Elder Abuse hotline.

assists victims with Victim Compensation Claims and Impact Statements

works with specialty courts, providing relevant information and assistance as required

records victim contacts for grant purposes

informs victims of release of perpetrators from incarceration

performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
