On behalf of our client, First Bank, we are conducting a search for the SVP Director of Human Resources who provides executive-level Human Resources (HR) leadership and guidance to the organization. Responsible for setting, administering, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. Collaborates with the company’s management team to lead all initiatives in human resources related to becoming an employer of choice with a commitment to an inclusive and diverse work force and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. Strives for optimum efficiency and effectiveness of the HR department. Fosters a workforce that is developed and equipped to meet the Bank’s strategic objectives.

Summary of Job Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Manages and/or oversees all aspects of the HR department, to include all duties and functions of the HR managers and HR generalist / Payroll specialist.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
  • Supports the mission and goals of the Bank including an inclusive, diverse, engaged and action-oriented culture.
  • Oversight of the employee life cycle delivery and experience to include attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and separation effectively leveraging systems and software; lead recruiter for senior management roles.
  • Collaborates with the HR team in developing short and long-range goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and interprets key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
  • Researches, develops, implements, and measures for success executive and employee compensation, benefits, training and development, performance appraisal, and employee incentive and rewards prog rams.
  • Advises and fosters communications to include but not limited to new hire orientation, onboarding, policies and procedures, employee surveys, employee handbook and overall employee relations.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the HR and management team on more complex matters of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Maintains and leverages knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management for continuous and process improvement.
  • Drafts, implements, and evaluates the organization’s staffing budget, the budget for the HR department and related vendor management and negotiations.
  • Consults with appropriate management members and legal counsel, in resolving complex employment related issues whether internal complaints, external complaints or lawsuits. Conduct fact-based investigations and complete the necessary documentation.
  • Acts as Affirmative Action Officer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, or related area. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • At least ten years progressive experience in human resource management and in varied disciplines including, but not limited to: compensation, benefits, organizational development, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • National HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP or related), Talent Management or Compensation / Benefits certification credential highly preferred.
  • Professional services industry experience highly desirable (e.g., financial, legal)
  • Effective supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Typical full-time, Monday - Friday primarily on-site work schedule.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
