Job Objectives:

Oversees the handling and resolution of designated Property and Inland Marine claims handled by TPAs. Supervises and audits the TPAs for Property and Inland Marine claims, ensuring that the TPAs follow proper claims handling procedures at all times. Directly handles complex and runoff Property claims. Manages subrogation recovery process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for oversight of TPAs in the handling of claims under Property and Inland Marine policies issued by Allied World
• Responsible for monthly meetings via phone with the TPAs, auditing at least twice a year, and meeting with the TPA claims managers to review all claims bi-weekly
• Coordinate with TPAs to provide accurate risk assessment to senior staff
• Coordinate with TPAs to respond timely to CAT exposures
• Handles claims in-house that are not referred to the TPA
• Approves reserves, payments, reservation of rights, denials, and other actions consistent with authority
• Ensures prompt and accurate payments of losses
• Interacts/travels with underwriters concerning renewals and prospective accounts as well as individual claims and policy issues
• Interacts with Claim Operations as necessary regarding reconciliation of financial transactions, enhancements to Claims systems and other operational issues
• Prepares periodic reports for management
• Meets with existing or prospective clients and brokers
• Assists in the planning of the quarterly large loss meetings
• Attends and/or presents at relevant industry conferences/meetings
• Prepares for and represents Claims department in internal and external audits
• Represents company in the resolution of claims and participates in legal proceedings, including mediations.
• Assists in noticing to reinsurers and works with reinsurers as needed
• Meets with actuaries and F&A as needed

Requirements:

• 15 + years prior experience in Property claim adjusting
• Specific experience with the adjustment and handling of Hurricane, Earthquake and Tornado losses required
• Inland Marine claim adjusting experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills
• Strong communication skills with substantial knowledge of issues underlying Property claims. Excellent negotiation and communication skills including technical writing. Ability to manage internal and external relationships
• Ability to, analyze coverage and instruct and collaborate with counsel regarding litigation strategy and claim resolution, and resolve claims and otherwise act within the scope of delegated authority
• Work requires the ability to read, comprehend and analyze written materials quickly and to use a computer for long periods of time.
• Actively pursues and manages potential subrogation and salvage recoveries on designated accounts
• Some travel required
