Veterinary Technician Supervisor / Lead Technician

Merrimac Valley Animal Hospital is seeking a talented Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join and lead as a Lead Technician full time. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead team with a positive “can do” attitude
• Directing work flow on the floor
• Ability to cover shifts and manage team schedule
• Work with hospital leadership to increase client and team satisfaction
• Implementing department policies and procedures.
• Accurately handling and recording controlled drugs.
• Record keeping.
• Equipment maintenance.
• Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills
• Help with the interview process for potential new hires
• Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
• Mentoring technicians within the hospital
• Working with doctors to develop protocols to improve the service
• Ensure that MVAH polices, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.

Qualifications:

• Licensed technician preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in veterinary medicine
• Experience with supervising and training clinical staff
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
• Leadership abilities – collaborative, yet able to work independently
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to handle complex and/or emotional situations
• Strong organizational skills, capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing
• Must be a people person who is kind and caring to all staff and clients
