Job Description

Veterinary Technicians apply their medical knowledge and clinical skills to provide routine and urgent care to pets in need. You’ll participate in surgery and procedures, be responsible for your own appointments with assistants, and provide guidance to pet parents on best practices to keep their pets healthy and happy. You’ll be encouraged to continue growing your skill set, and mentored through your career.

Responsibilities

• Performing an initial examination of the animal.
• Taking vital signs, drawing blood and gathering medical histories.
• Providing emergency first aid.
• Collecting specimens.
• Assisting in research.
• Performing laboratory procedures.
• Preparing animals and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Administering medications and vaccines prescribed by a veterinarian.
• Taking and processing x-rays.
• Educating animal owners.

Qualifications

• A veterinary technician certification or licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) is preferred but not required
• 2+ years experience as a veterinary technician (ideal)
