Duties & Responsibilities:
Assess current capabilities of the Technician Team using a tiered skill level format.
Serve as a resource and Subject Matter Expert to Technicians as it relates to training.
Flexibility with schedule to adapt to the training needs of the nursing staff, with availability to move onto any shift, hours or days that require employee training or mentoring.
Serve as a resource for revision of curriculum and material selection.
Develops a plan to systematically train the staff for increased capabilities.
Leverage resources and expertise provided by the NVA C-F Veterinary Nursing Development (VND) team.
Utilizes VetBloom to enhance training and provide tracking of modules completed.
Works directly with Lead Technicians/Mentors on leadership skills, communication, and operational efficiency on their shifts.
Establishes goals and provides feedback to HOM/MD.
Acts as the EAHCC liaison to local veterinary technician schools to increase candidate flow and community awareness.
Establish and maintain working relationships with Veterinarian Technician faculty at local community colleges.
Coordinates with HOM on required checklists to improve shift efficiency, requirements, and standards of pet care.
Works with Marketing Manager to schedule/arrange lunch and learns for staff and external RDVMs and opportunities.
Champions CE modules, administer and grade examinations and tracks participation.
Ensure that necessary equipment, materials and supplies are available for all learning events/activities.
Provide teaching in a variety of modalities including written, oral, and demonstration.
Supervise all hands-on demonstrations/exercises to closely monitor Technician progress, provide feedback (both by verbally and physically), and assess results.

Be willing to receive constructive feedback and modify leadership style as needed for growth in the position. Avoid defensive behaviors or aggressive behaviors.
20. Aide in observational interviews to assess applicants prior to potential employment
21. Connect with new employees heavily within their first 2 weeks of employment to assess skill set, communication style, learning styles/opportunities and past experiences. Relay this information to Education Coordinator and Supervisor through shared google doc and in meetings.
22. Aide in biweekly onboarding meetings for new employees as needed
23. Provide feedback for 60-day review to HOM
Personal Characteristics:
A good command of written and oral English.
Ability to communicate clearly, verbally, nonverbally, and in writing, demonstrating appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage
Ability to interact effectively on an interpersonal level and work cooperatively with the DOO, HOMs, Technicians, and RDVMs.
An interest in working with and helping adult learners achieve success.
A professional appearance and attitude toward work that serves as a model to Technicians.

Maintain confidentiality of all discussions that occur during employee assessments, training plans, compensation, HR issues and discussions during meetings

Equipment Knowledge:
Standard veterinary hospital office equipment – multi-line phone system, fax machine, copier, credit card machines and computers.
Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrate a good knowledge of subject matter through a minimum of three (3) years’ experience, or a combination of five (5) years’ experience and education in the area of instruction
Possess current/active LVT (Licensed Veterinarian Technician)
Know the requirements of the job for which students are training
Know vocabulary of education and terminology used in the veterinary field
Experience in teaching or training employees desirable
Physical:
Able to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time.
Able to type, write and verbally converse for extended periods of time.
Able to work the posted schedule.
Able to be flexible and work beyond posted schedule if necessary; able to pick up additional shifts when requested or necessary.
This job may require minimal routine travel of varying distances to the regular assigned work locations.
